While carrying out its public tasks and other activities, including the activities under the website of the ICT-research Platform Nederland (hereafter: IPN), the Dutch research Council (hereafter: NWO) processes personal data. NWO treats personal data with the utmost care. This privacy statement explains why we need these personal data and how we handle them.
This privacy statement applies to all personal data processed by or under the responsibility of NWO, which includes personal data processed by IPN.
This privacy statement may be revised from time to time in response to new developments. We recommend that you remain abreast of any changes by regularly consulting the most recent version of the statement on this page of our website.
What data does NWO process?
NWO processes personal data of anyone who has (or has had) direct or indirect contact with NWO. In that context. In the case of the website of IPN, NWO distinguishes one situation in which data are processed.

Anyone completing and submitting an online form on the IPN website provides NWO with their name, address, and contact details. These forms always state the purpose for which NWO processes those personal data. To unsubscribe from our magazines, please send an e-mail to ipn@nwo.nl. On receipt of your message, we will immediately delete your personal data.
With whom does NWO share personal data?
In the performance of its statutory duties, NWO may be required to share personal data with other organisations. Personal data are only ever shared based on valid legal grounds. Moreover, agreements are made, and suitable measures are taken to ensure that when personal data are shared, they are handled in a reliable, fair, and careful manner. The same applies if personal data are shared with organisations in other countries. Personal data are never provided to third parties for commercial purposes.
Your rights with respect to your personal data
Under the privacy legislation, you are entitled to receive a comprehensible and transparent explanation of how NWO handles your personal data. You also have the right to inspect and rectify your personal data. In some cases, you are also entitled to request the deletion of your personal data. NWO grants any request for the deletion of personal data unless we are required by law to retain certain data. You also have the right, in certain situations, to object to the processing of your personal data or to request a restriction of their processing. Under certain circumstances, you have the right to receive the personal data you have provided to us in a machine-readable format so that you can transmit those data to another party.
If you wish to inspect, rectify or supplement your personal data or want to have the data deleted, please submit your request in an e-mail to privacyvragen@nwo.nl stating the website ict-research.nl in the title of the email. Please attach a secure copy (with passport photograph and Citizen Service Number (BSN) blacked out) of a valid identity card to your request.

You also have the right to submit a complaint to our Data Protection Officer, via email address fg@nwo.nl stating the website ict-research.nl in the title of the email, or to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
